Labour boost for small business

Labour's Parliamentary candidate for Twickenham, Nick Grant, met with local business leaders last week.

Nick spoke about the Government’s poor record on lending to small business and the importance of ensuring young people have the skills required to join the work force.

Nick said: "The Government has failed small businesses, chiefly in relation to their failure to require the major banks to back small businesses with flexible, long term finance.

"I have heard of perfectly viable businesses that have gone under purely because their loans were called in at short notice.

"A Labour Government would be committed to helping small business by setting up an American-style Small Business Administration to champion their cause across Whitehall, cutting then freezing business rates for small businesses and improving their access to finance by setting up a British Investment Bank with regional lending priorities."
