Labour Parliamentary candidate Nick Grant has launched his campaign to become Twickenham’s next MP at an event in York House, Twickenham.
The event earlier this week was attended by local supporters and Labour party members who heard speeches from Nick and guest speaker Seema Malhotra. Seema was MP for Feltham and Heston during the previous Parliament and is seeking re-election.
Currently head of Legal Services at Sainsbury’s, Nick has lived in St Margarets for the last 15 years and was selected by local party members last year. Since being selected Nick has built up a strong base of local support, and impressed many with his energy, insight and clear vision for the area.
Nick said: “This is a very exciting election for Twickenham. A lot of people have previously been content to support Vince Cable against the Tories, but his record in the Coalition has put that in jeopardy.
"People are telling me that they are confused, and even angry, about the role they have seen Vince Cable play in Government, and many of our new supporters are joining us for that reason.
"We feel the momentum is with us, the Lib Dem vote has collapsed across the country, and Labour offers a clear vision for a prosperous and fair Britain. The political landscape in Twickenham may well look very different come the 8th of May.”
Seema said: “Nick is an excellent candidate with vast experience of business, a sharp legal brain and a passion for creating a more equal and just society.
"Nick would make a fantastic MP for Twickenham and it’s clear that there is a huge amount of local support for him. Nick is an impressive conviction politician, and the country needs more people like Nick in Parliament.”
