Sophie asks Question on Council Support for Domestic Violence

Twickenham Labour Party Womens’ section formally submitted a Council Question asking what support the Administration are giving to women suffering Domestic Violence and what policies they are developing to protect women.

Labour member, Sophie Robbins, accompanied by other members of Twickenham’s women’s section asked the question at the beginning of the September Council meeting and followed by asking the Council if they had used all the money made available by government for new Refuge projects . (The money being reassigned after the Government had cut housing support benefits.)

Sophie Commented

“Many women suffering Domestic violence are not getting the support they need. We are concerned that week after week, women are still living with the threat of violence and tragically at least two women a week are murdered.”

“This is an issue that should never been forgotten.”
