Open letter – 1 in 4 Heathfield residents have no trust in Richmond Council

The results of Richmond upon Thames Annual Residents’ Survey were published last month and unsurprisingly, a significant number of Heathfield residents have little or no trust in Richmond Council – one in four in fact.

Even more unsettling, over 1 in 3 disagreed with the idea that residents had any influence whatsoever over the decisions the Council makes.

This is a dangerous level of discontentment and symptomatic of the contempt shown for Heathfield by the previous Lib Dem administration and the current Conservative one. Heathfield has borne the brunt of front line service cuts over other areas in the borough which continue to attract significant investment from the pot of local taxpayers’ cash.

Turning to local issues, congestion is still a major area of concern for residents throughout the borough but especially acute for people living on roads near Whitton rail station. Road maintenance, pavement maintenance and parking services also top the list of concerns and local residents have complained previously to us about the unsatisfactory results of recent road and pavement repairs. We plan to raise this with the Council.

We are urging Heathfield residents to get in touch with us if they have any concerns via or
