On Tuesday, Richmond Council received the news that Councillor Stephen Knight had decided to leave the Liberal Democrat group of Councillors on Richmond Council and join the Labour Party.

We warmly welcome him and applaud his bravery, for what must have been a very difficult decision.

In his statement he said he that after twenty years as a Councillor he realised.

Only the Labour Party can provide the alternative that the Country so desperately needs.” He also observed that across London Labour Councillors are at the forefront of “Driving change in their local communities”.

There is now an official Labour Group on Richmond Council, led by Cllr Jennifer Churchill.

We are proud Cllr Stephen Knight is now a member of our Labour Party. We look forward to fighting the Local Government elections in May where we will be campaigning to ensure that the Labour Group on Richmond Council will get even bigger.
