Twickenham Constituency Labour Party condemns the Conservative party and Boris Johnson’s attempt to use Trumpian tactics to besmirch the reputation of the Labour leader Kier Starmer.
We affirm the Labour Party’s commitment to uphold the principles of democracy: decency; honesty; respect for the rule of law; and law making. We reject the use of gutter politics and call on Johnson to retract and apologise both for his remarks in the House of Commons and for the ugly scenes that happened outside Parliament yesterday.
The United Kingdom is, sadly, no stranger to political violence with the deaths of 2 MPs over the past 6 years. That Mr Starmer has received death threats on the back of the above events only shows how much more serious events are than our not-a-complete-clown of a PM understands. Indeed the ITV News interview on 14th February where he smirks about the death threats only serves to prove our point. We too call on Mr Johnson to resign.
We wish Keir well.
